Our Story

WELCOME to Dreamers of Dreams Film Festival. As we embark on a new era of technological and scientific discovery, this festival will spark your imagination and inspire you to think beyond the limitations of everyday life.

The festival is organized by JAN HENDRIK VERSTRATEN and MASSIMO BARBATO who are themselves filmmakers and writers. Massimo has worked as a future technologies journalist and interviewed many people on the forefront of AI. His book ‘Thinking Beyond Limitation’ (published in 2012) was the inspiration for their award-winning feature screenplay ‘Computer Love’.

They are also the founders of the successful New Renaissance Film Festival, ranked in London METRO’s list of TOP UK FILM FESTIVALS and in the top 20 best-reviewed film festivals on Film Freeway (September 2020). NRFF has screened world and UK premieres and films that went on to win an Oscar! Click here to see what people are saying about NRFF.

During the festival we hope to screen a wide variety of stories that celebrate human invention and imagination, and our desire to explore new and uncharted territory. Our goal is to support and champion the best upcoming filmmakers in this new era, to fulfill their dream of telling their stories.  Our numerous award possibilities give independents the chance to receive the recognition they deserve. Our passion is to tell great stories. We focus on the ARTIST, on the STORY and on building an international COMMUNITY of inspiring artists and storytellers.

We invite filmmakers to submit shorts and features with a science fiction, fantasy, art or experimental, spiritual or philosophical theme. This can be a narrative story, a documentary, a dance or music video or, an animation. The festival will be held in London, a city known for its diversity and innovation in the creative arts, in November. Please read our festival terms and conditions before making your submission through Film Freeway.
